Johnathan Rand attacks, May 7, 2014
"American Chillers" author Johnathan Rand visits Alcona Elementary School to show students how important it is to read and write well. Inspiration Alcona's cosponsors include the Alcona County Review, the Alcona County Library, Judge Laura Frawley and the Alcona Community Schools PTO.
Part line dance, part square dance, all fun, contra dancing makes a great evening out. Together with the Thunder Bay Folk Society, Inspiration Alcona sponsors a monthly dance, alternating between Alcona and Alpena counties.
The third annual Arts Retreat offers a long weekend of workshops in plein air painting, poetry writing, woodcarving, collage, watercolor painting, memoir writing and digital photography. Make new friends while learning more about your favorite means of expression.
Chef Fred Laughlin, director of culinary arts at Northwestern Michigan College, will help participants see, taste and make simple, delicious and healthy recipes using easy-to-find and locally produced ingredients. This is a hands-on, practical and fun experience.
