Come sing along with performers from all around Alcona County. The first Alcona Gospelfest will be held April 25, 2015, at the Harrisville United Methodist Church. An afternoon of learning new songs and practicing will be followed by dinner and a public performance in the evening. This event is cosponsored by Alcona choir directors. Details to come.
Part line dance, part square dance, all fun, contra dancing makes a great evening out. Inspiration Alcona dances will resume in September. Meanwhile, check the Dance Alcona Home page for other dance events in the area.
The third annual Arts Retreat offers a long weekend of workshops in plein air painting, poetry writing, woodcarving, collage, watercolor painting, memoir writing and digital photography. Make new friends while learning more about your favorite means of expression.
Chef Fred Laughlin, director of culinary arts at Northwestern Michigan College, led a great class on healthy eating, especially of local foods. We'll be doing more culinary retreats in the future. If there's a specific theme you'd like to see, drop an email to info@InspirationAlcona.org.
