In March the ninth-grade students bused to Dearborn to visit the Henry Ford Museum. After posing at the entrance, the participants visited the bus on which Rosa Parks sparked the 20th Century civil rights movement (shown on the home page). Another, less important but certainly iconic vehicle they saw was the original Weinermobile.
Also on the menu for the trip was a visit to a Japanese restaurant to try food most students had never tasted before.
A group of students including those involved in the student production “The Wizard of Oz” bused to Detroit to see “The Lion King” live at the Detroit Opera House.Â
Creations by the elementary students in the after-school program led by sculptor Autumn Bildson are on display at the Thunder Bay Art Gallery in downtown Alpena.
